Why buy an SSD instead of a conventional hard drive (HDD)?
We’ve been talking about SSD for a few lines, but we still haven’t explained what it is about. The technology found in SSDs is the latest in storage technology. There are two main advantages over conventional hard disks (called HDD).
The first, more obvious, is the speed of SSDs. With an SSD, your files (sound, photo, video …) are not only transferred extremely quickly, but all loading times that you encounter are reduced to almost zero. Be it the introduction of Windows or video games.
SSDs are not only faster, they are also widely used more reliable and durable than HDDs. This is an essential point: the object that stores your data has to be durable and resistant to vibrations. If you drop an old hard drive, you can lose it all. It is finished.
Small bonus that should not be neglected: SSDs are much more compact than HDDs and use less power.
The Samsung 870 EVO in detail
This 2.5 ”870 EVO model is a real benchmark in this area. The SATA port also enables very easy integration into any desktop PC and most laptops. Enough to give your old bike a little boost (or to build a new high performance bike)!
With 1TB of storage and sequential speeds of 560/530 Mo / s, It is absolutely certain that you will find a blatant difference between the capacities of the 870 EVO and that of your old hard drive.
This configuration in particular enables daily tasks, including 4K / 8K video management. This renowned SSD is also perfect for managing other types of applications such as 3D software or … video games.
Specifically, the loading times are divided by a ratio between 2 and 5. Obviously, a game that took 20 seconds on a traditional hard drive to load only takes 4 to 10!
The other great strength of this 1TB 870 EVO is its endurance: it is actually designed to last and its 5-year guarantee proves this. It will therefore probably accompany you on your current PC, but also on your future machines.
