When the video game industry seems to give in to the sirens of the opportunistic spin-off all too often, the seventh art risks a chance, as demonstrated by the late Andr Franquin, who chose to turn down on stage alone a curious mammal who believes in the album Spirou et les Hritiers.

Will there soon be a Franco-Belgian comic that was not the subject of a video-fun version by the French? After Astrix and Oblix, Tintin, the Smurfs and the unfortunate XIII, the Marsupilami license will soon go through the 2D platformer box. Houba houba?

Microds has indeed unveiled Marsupilami: The Secret of the Sarcophagus, a platform game that doesn’t directly stage the famous mammal from the Palombian jungle, but three more bankable descendants and in the Age of Time: Punch, Twister and Hope. Who said “Huey, Pippi and Loulou”? The first pictures from our picture gallery set the tone and testify to a certain influence of a certain Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze:
Punch, Twister and Hope are three Marsupilamis who lead peaceful lives in Palombia. While the three compresses open a cursed sarcophagus while playing with debris on the beach, they falsely release a mysterious ghost that curses all animals terribly. Fortunately, the Marsupilamis are immune. Our three heroes must go on an adventure and hunt the ghost to ward off fate.
The game is currently being developed by the Lyon-based residents of Ocellus, who have already shone on Astrix & Oblix XXL Romastered, XXL 3 or Clash of Clans. We therefore leave you to the only potential judges. Microds hasn’t waited to win two collector’s editions that are doing well:
- The tropical editionThese include: the game, 2 sheets of stickers and a door hanger
- L’dition collectorThese include: The game, 2 sheets of stickers, a door hanger and a 14 cm tall Marsupilami figure
Marsupilami: The Secret of the Sarcophagus was released back on November 16 and is already being announced on Mac, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox series. So, ready to take out enemies with your terrible tail?
