The sequel is being talked about again and it's still selling dreams

Dreams, it39s, selling, sequel, talked

Arcane's aftermath promises to be epic. A screenwriter tells us what she thought would be covered next. It really sells dreams when you think about what could happen.

Arcane Season 2 is now well behind us, but the aura still hasn't disappeared. You only have to look at the many collectors out there just before Christmas to realize how real the trend is. Many fans are now interested in the world of League of Legendswhere Arcane takes place. Because if there is no third season, there will actually be a sequel, even several. Fortiche and RiotGames are at war and the furnaces are in full swing. But then what does the rest have in store for us? We have some clues.

Not a season 3 for Arcane, but still a lot to talk about

Christian Linke, one of the thinkers of Arcane and in general of all related projects, had teased us that after Arcane, other regions of Runeterra, the world of Arcane, would also have the right to its passage. League of Legends players and fans know this: The universe is huge, the lore is particularly rich and the characters are very numerous. While Linke told us that the character of Viktor would be deepened or that good old Heimerdinger had not yet said his last word, one of the screenwriters of the franchise also had her say.

For Amanda Overton, author of “Arcane,” it's Ionia who very much deserves the treatment. In the Gamesradar columns, she says she can't wait to see Ionia and its story. She is convinced that this large island in the east of Runeterra has a lot to tell. For them, Ionia would have a very different folklore and look than what we saw in Arcane, more exotic in some ways.

Ionia, a land full of history and characters beloved by fans

In League of Legends, Ionia is holy land. The region is closely connected to the spiritual realma world in which fantastic creatures live and in which there is a lot of magic. Strong characters that are extremely popular with fans from League of Legends, like Ahri, Master Yi, Akali or even Irelia and Yasuo. Many stories take place there and some may be connected to the events of Arcane.

At the very end of season two we actually get to see a six-eyed raven. It would be space, a demon that will bond with a well known lol character, Swain. The latter is a powerful general in the Noxus region and is at the origin of a terrible war against Ionia, in which Singed is also involved, although people try to forget this dark part of history. Ionia would therefore be a very interesting and coherent choice in many ways.

Freljord, a region that would offer great stories and a strong message

For Amanda Overton, this is obvious. But she doesn't stop there and believes that Freljord would also be a region of her choice. Mainly because of him “Matriarchy” very pronounced. This is the northernmost region of Runeterra. A frozen land where beings of unimaginable power clashed. The latter are still revered like Volibear, Ornn or even Anivia. There are many strong characters in Freljord are actually women, like the frost protector Ashe, the all-powerful witch Lissandra or the fighter Sejuani. Like Ionia, Freljord would have a lot to tell usparticularly the wars between clans and the clashes of the all-powerful creatures that have marked the land of ice.

Noxus won't settle for Arcane, that's for sure

According to the scriptwriter, only the Noxus region would not be a priority. Not that it isn't interesting, and we know there's a lot to talk about in between political affairs, wars and strong peoplebut she has already had her moment of glory in Arcane. Ambessa is indeed an extremely charismatic performance, taking up a lot of space in the series, especially in Season 2, and as a bonus, generally sums up everything that is Noxus. While it would be interesting to explore more, perhaps engaging with it from the beginning would be a form of repetition.

The post-arcane period promises to be grand as the possibilities are enormous

In any case, Amanda Overton says she is very excited. There is so much to talk about for them. « There are so many great champions to discover. […] wonderful little charactersAnd for me, I’m always looking for ways to tell stories where you can have characters that find common ground in their differences.” she explains. “With so much diversity in Runeterra and so many fun characters, they are all so different that theWe were able to find so many beautiful stories with such major conflicts etc. »

It's true that the League of Legends universe has had time to evolve in its more than 13 years of existence. But it was only recently that Riot decided to take the next step and finally develop its universe properly, especially thanks to Arcane. A very big effort is being made, more will come in the game from 2025 and hopefully in other formats too. As for Arcane, the teams are working hard and hand in hand with the studio that takes care of the large MMO currently in development. What is created there simply looks huge.

Below is the Awaken clip released by Riot for the 2019 season. The latter shows several aspects of the League of Legends universe and its characters. We can get an idea of what we would like to see in future series. We are currently watching an impressive battle in Ionia against Noxus.
