Just last week, EA and Maxis officially confirmed the development of The Sims 5. Even if the new series part is said to be a long way off, rumor has it that a first test phase could be coming up very soon.
None other than Tom Henderson, one of the most reliable insiders in the gaming industry, is now reporting, citing several sources, that the test runs for The Sims 5, which is in an early stage of development, could begin soon. The first playtest should start in the new week starting October 25th.
A Henderson source even shared the invitation email with the full text; EA is said to have already sent this to individual players, who have thus received an invitation to the playtest.
This first test phase of the new game is intended to grant access to only a certain section of the new The Sims 5. This is the game mechanics under the name Workshop; here various objects can be individualized in order to then use them as decoration in a home or apartment. Maxis wants players to be creative in the playtest with the tools provided and share their own creations or at least provide inspiration.
In addition, it should already be possible in this playtest to experience the experience together with others by invitation. Nevertheless, Maxis once again explicitly points out in the mail that the workshop is only a single aspect of Project Rene and of course does not represent the final game.
