Hello and don’t be alarmed! The title picture above is not a graphic from the newly announced The Sims 5. Rather, the screenshot comes from its grandfather The Sims 3 – after all, Project Rene has hardly shown any pictures let alone characters.
Instead, the announcement may contain something else that is exciting: a feature that we have always paid for separately in previous parts.
Apartments now also part of the base game?
We Sims fans have complained about it more than once: We are no longer willing to wait five years for essential features such as pets, seasons and universities in a life simulation and also to reach for our wallets separately – for the fifth time now . Therefore, The Sims urgently needs to reconsider its addon policy for Project Rene:

The Sims 5 will change life simulation forever – and it must
After The Sims 4’s Free2Play transition, there could now be another clue to the addon policy. The online magazine Sims Community reported on an initial invitation to playtest Project Rene for select members of the EA playtesting program. The quoted invitation message states:
The game test will mainly focus on the new object creation tool called “Workshop”. This tool is designed to help you rearrange objects in your apartment.
Well, did you read it too? Apartments! Although there were high-rise buildings with small residential units in The Sims 2, 3 and 4, they were in the expansion packs Apartment Life, Late Night and Big City Life.
Although you should treat this mail with caution, because we did not receive any confirmation from EA when asked that such a playtest invitation had actually been sent – however, the construction of an apartment can also be seen in the announcement video of The Sims 5:

I’m still extremely cautious about what this announcement means, but at the same time, the Sims 5’s new addon policy is more exciting to me than any graphic reveal. That’s why it’s the little things like this that make me sit up and take notice.
Will there actually be a subscription model with a Free2Play concept, like we do? in our announcement podcast have rumored? Does The Sims 5 stay with the dozens of paid addons for over 1000 dollars? Or will popular features like pets, seasons, and apartments be part of the base game for the first time?
It’s possible, after all, competitor Paralives has been advertising it for a long time. And Project Rene currently seems to be learning a lot from the life simulation competitor – which the developer even thinks is great.
I’m trying not to tip over my cow plant in anticipation and rumours, and to keep my feet still, no matter how difficult it is. But I’m all the more interested in your opinion in the comments!
