Elden Ring has some issues on PC, but the studio is getting to the bottom of it. The developers have even found a trick to avoid errors while waiting to fix everything permanently.
The imposing Elden Ring DLC is finally available for consoles and PC. After months of waiting, Shadows of the Erdtree was recently released and it literally broke all records. More than 5 million units sold in just… 72 hours, extremely positive reviews, player feedback that can’t be topped… a very, very big success for FromSoftware, except for one detail, on PC it is still hell for some players.
Elden Ring crashes on PC, but the studio is taking care of the case
Remember, the Elden Ring DLC was burned when it was released on Steam. Many complained about the difficulty level that has since been lowered, but there are still major optimization issues. Players are annoyed by severe stuttering that has an annoying habit of dropping the framerate in the process, be damned.
If no definitive solutions have been found yet, FromSoftware is working hard to fix the problem as quickly as possible and seems to have made very good progress. The studio claims to have at least partially identified the problem and is offering A small effective tip to work around the problem while waiting for the error to be permanently fixed
A tip to get around errors on your PC while you wait for a REAL solution
According to the developers, it would be the mouse control applications that would crash everything while running in the background. There does indeed seem to be a bug associated with this type of software.
To avoid problems, FromSoftware simply recommends deactivating them before playing to limit the damage. According to the studio, this is a simple but effective tip.
“In the PC version, if you play the game while a mouse control application is running in the background, the frame rate may become unstable. In this case, please stop all applications related to mouse control and restart the game,” reads X.
However, this does not guarantee that you will no longer have problems, as many reports confirm that even with a significant improvement, other residual problems still exist. But everything should be resolved soon.
FromSoftware has actually announced the imminent release of one or more patches to optimize its game. After balancing the difficulty level, technical issues are now in the developers’ sights. Soon everything should be back to normal.
