CD Projekt Red released a patch for The Witcher 3 The next generation it says addresses performance issues related to the previous patch.
The game’s last patch, update 4.01, was supposed to fix performance issues on both consoles and PC, but made things worse on the latter.
One issue with the last patch was that if you didn’t have ray tracing enabled, the game would run worse than before.
On PC, the patch adds a performance mode for ray-traced global illumination, which is said to improve frame rates by prioritizing performance over range and precision. But without the RT setting turned on, the frame rate drops below 25fps.
However, many players on Twitter claimed that the patch didn’t do a good job of addressing these issues, and console users wondered when another patch would be released to address texture pop-ups, framerate drops, and more.
Many also wondered if the patch just mostly removed the rather realistic female mom clips that were inadvertently included in the game, and CDPR wasn’t very forthcoming about that.
Of course, we’ll find out soon if the patch removes the rather hilarious oopsie daisy from the game.
The patch is available now via GOG and Steam.
