The
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" had a very good year.
Developers and publishers of wizards and cyberpunk CD project Announced 2019 financial results (PDF).
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is the company's main contributor in 2019 revenue. In that year, the game's sales on all platforms were close to the highest level in history when The Witcher 3 was launched in 2015.
Although no specific figures were mentioned, the document shows that sales in 2019 were about 7 million, compared with 9.5 million in 2015. This is the highest record since its release.
PC is the main platform for 2019, just like 2018, 2017 and 2016. In 2019, 53% of copies were sold on PC, compared to 26% on PS4 and 10% on Xbox One. The Switch version was launched in October at 11%.
In 2019, 82% of all sales were digital sales, while in 2015 the game was only 29%.
Considering the driving force that Netflix shows bring to the game, especially on the PC, it helped Steam create the highest player record ever. These numbers are not surprising. Although the launch of Switch came into play later this year.
In 2020, CD Projekt is expected to show its talents as well, launching Cyberpunk 2027 in September.
