Yennefer of Vengerberg’s voice actress doesn’t know whether her character will appear in The Witcher 4, even though Geralt of Rivia is confirmed to be part of the RPG adventure.
The Witcher 4 Production Status
A new entry in The Witcher universe is currently in development at CD projekt redwith numerous official details already revealed. Formerly known as Project Polaristhe game now dubbed The Witcher 4 has its protagonist confirmed.

Following the events of The Witcher 3: Wild Huntyoung Ciri will embark on a solo journey. The Polish studio has even drawn comparisons between her ideals and those of the secondary character Mioni.
But don’t get your hopes up just yet—this RPG won’t be arriving until 2026 at the earliest. In the meantime, you can tide yourself over with The Witcher’s upcoming prequel novel, set to release in Europe this September.
Aside from Featureit has been confirmed that Geralt of Rivia will appear as a supporting character, once again voiced by the iconic Doug Cockle.
What about Yennefer of Vengerberg?
Geralt’s great love from the original trilogy may not return in The Witcher 4. In fact, it’s unclear whether the sorceress will appear at all—even her voice actress isn’t sure.

Denise Gough, who voiced Yennefer in The Witcher 3confirmed in a brief interview with Eurogamer that she has no information about the character’s return. Gough, also known for her role as Dedra Meero in Star Wars: Andor on Disney+, admitted she’s been kept completely in the dark.
Reflecting on Her Role
Gough recalled her unusual introduction to video game voice acting, saying she had little knowledge of the medium when she worked on The Witcher 3.
She also shared a humorous anecdote about fans and sound engineers who would whisper to her during recording sessions, asking, “Are you Yennefer?”—to which she’d respond, “Who’s Yennefer?”

“I didn’t know what I was doing. I’d never worked on a video game. A lot of men would come up to me in the sound departments on film sets and whisper, ‘Are you Yennefer?’ And I’d ask them, ‘Who is Yennefer?’” Gough recalled.
Some fans believe this could be a misdirection to avoid spoilers, while others suspect CD Projekt may have recast the character or written her out altogether.
Uncertainty Ahead
For now, Yennefer’s presence in The Witcher 4 remains a mystery. Perhaps more will be revealed at the Summer Game Fest 2025?
What is certain is that The Witcher 4 will explore never-before-seen regions and locations in an open world, with NPCs promising “a more immersive experience than ever before.”
