game news The Witcher: Discover Geralt of Rivia as you’ve never seen him before!
While initially a hero of a novel, Geralt de Riv has been themed in many variations over time. TV movies, video games or even series, we’ve seen it in all media. But today, the witcher is reinvented in the form of a Japanese character in the guise of a witcher.
Geralt de Riv in a new light
Thanks to the CD Projekt Red games, Geralt de Riv has become a pop culture icon over time. That aura was reinforced by the success of the Netflix series The Witcher, in which he is played by Henry Cavill and soon to be Liam Hemsworth. But today we discover the witcher of a hundred years in a completely new light. The Japanese brand Kotobukiya will offer a figurine of Geralt de Riv in its Bishoujo collection, that is, in the form of a young girl. The statue was designed by Shunya Yamashita, who worked at Square Enix on Final Fantasy X in the 2000s as an NPC and weapon character designer, and sculpted by Yoshiki Fujimoto.
Currently, The figure is slated for release next February and is available for pre-order for $170. Technically, the latter is made of PVC, measures 229mm and is 1:7 scale. The funniest part is that we learn that Geralt de Riv is just the first character in this collaboration with CD Project Red, whose second statue is still in development. Given this first result, we can assume that it is one of the many female characters in the universe of The Witcher such as Ciri, Yennefer or even Triss.
The bishoujo, a separate category of figures
If you’ve never heard of Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo series, the latter is referred to as “a series of statues based on Shunya Yamashita’s illustrations of various characters from films, games and comics in Japanese bishoujo style (i.e. beautiful young girls)”. In the past, the brand has done many collaborations with Western franchises like Marvel with Jane Foster and Black Cat, GI Joe, and also turns male characters into their own. female equivalents like Beetlejuice, Freddy Kreuger, or even Jason Vorhees.
