Can Netflix viewers expect a new The Witcher spin-off? As reported, a new series from the witcher universe is to start between seasons 3 and 4. We reveal what it will be about.
Netflix wants to create an expansive universe out of The Witcher, so it’s clear that we have some prequels and spin-offs to look forward to. So far there has been the anime film “Nightmare of the Wolf” and on December 25, 2022 the first prequel series “The Witcher: Blood Origin” will start. Now there are reports about the next “The Witcher” offshoot!
Like the well-connected fansite you are used to Redanian Intelligence revealed that Netflix is planning a series about the rat gang. Book fans already know this group of young petty criminals. And in “The Witcher” season 3, the series connoisseurs will also find out who the rat gang is before their own series comes.
The rat gang spin-off is scheduled to be rele ased between seasons 3 and 4. Netflix follows the rhythm of releasing an offshoot between each “The Witcher” season. Between seasons 1 and 2, “Nightmare of the Wolf” gave us the backstory of Vesemir, who then appeared in season 2.
Between seasons 2 and 3, The Witcher: Blood Origin delights us with the story of the very first witcher and the conjunction of the spheres, which allowed beings from other universes to reach the continent. Between seasons 3 and 4 it’s about the rat gang.
It is unclear whether the series tells the history of the petty criminals or ties in with the events of the parent series. In the books, Ciri is part of the group for a time. Through her training in Kaer Morhen, she turns out to be a great asset to the rat gang.
Ciri’s encounter with the gang of rats will most likely be a theme in Season 3 of The Witcher. After all, many actors and actresses for the members of the rat gang have already been cast for season 3:
- Christelle Elwin as Mistle
- Fabian McCallum als Kayleigh
- Juliette Alexander as Reef
- Aggy K. Adams as Iskra
Should the series play after “The Witcher” season 3 in terms of content, Freya Allan’s participation as Ciri would not be unlikely. The motto here is: be surprised!
Officially, Netflix has not announced anything about the rat gang series, but Redanian Intelligence has often been right in the past. So let’s wait and see. Until then, you can check out other highlights in Netflix’s What’s New!
