In “The Witcher” Season 3, the Wild Hunt will play an important role. This clearly sets the Netflix series apart from the books, because things are different there!
- In the second season of “The Witcher” the wild hunt was hinted at, in season 3 it will play a prominent role!
- In the book that “The Witcher” Season 3 is based on, however, the wild hunt does not play such a big role.
- Netflix is probably big on the Wild Hunt due to its popularity with video games.
“The Witcher” Season 3 is not only longed for by fans in the era of fantasy series like “House of the Dragon” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, the streaming service Netflix is of course also doing a lot to help Get a slice of the fantasy pie.
The series is based on the witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski, but “The Witcher” often takes creative liberties, including in relation to the wild hunt. The Wild Hunt is a horde of horsemen galloping through the sky. In a way, ghost riders in heaven!
Actually, however, it is the elite elven soldiers of the Aen Elle who kidnap humans and similar beings and bring them to their dimension, where they are traded as slaves. In the second season of The Witcher, they learn that Ciri (Fraya Allan) has Elder blood.
With this, the Aen Elle elves can gain new power and so they want to kidnap Ciri. This is the set-up before “The Witcher” season 3 and of course promises a lot of action with the wild hunt in the new episodes!
However, this contradicts the books to a large extent, because season 3 is based on the volume “The Time of Contempt”, in which the wild hunt appears, but does not necessarily play an important role.
This is probably due to the fact that the wild hunt has become immensely popular with fans through the video game “The Witcher III: Wild Hunt” and Netflix wants to benefit from it.
Additionally, the leader of the Wild Hunt will also appear in The Witcher: Blood Origin prequel series, making the Wild Hunt the perfect link between the series. A start date in Netflix’s news program has not been set for either season 3 or the prequel.
