WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Call of Duty: Cold War.
The call of duty franchise It has always stood out for its multiplayer modes: from the classic that pits several teams against each other on different maps to the cooperative zombies mode and more recently the battle royale Warzone. For me, COD has never been synonymous with all this, but in campaign mode.
As stupid as it may seem to you, I have always bought most of the Call of Duty games for their stories. When he was younger, he would play their multiplayer modes (I’m talking about the days of Modern Warfare 2 y Black Ops 1), but the growing desire for everything to be competitive and Pro have killed any iota of enthusiasm for anything that involves PVP. I’ve tried the new ones during the betas, when it’s not too gross to play yet, but nothing beyond that.
Except for the nonsense of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII have enjoyed all the campaigns to a greater or lesser extent. The original Modern Warfare trilogy is a beast, Advanced Warfare it was cool with Kevin Spacey, WWII I enjoyed like a savage and Modern Warfare I was a sublime orgasm. With Modern Warfare II I have a very serious internal conflict. Finally, Cold War and Vanguard I skipped. Mistake… at least halfway.
Call of Duty suits the Cold War very well
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is one of the video games available on PlayStation Plus during the month of July. Sony has given me a great birthday “gift” because this was precisely one of the installments that I did not buy. My economy was not at that time to pay 70 dollars to play a CoD campaign. As I said above, I let him pass by Vanguard.
I never got to buy it, not even when it was on sale or when my economy improved. The reason is that I read and heard many people say that the Cold War campaign was the worst, bad, boring and short. I don’t usually listen to these opinions because I know myself and I know that Call of Duty stories always win me over… except Black Ops III, what a fucking horror! This time I listened.
This week, from Tuesday the 4th to Wednesday the 5th, I I played the cold war campaign. About four hours divided into two afternoons because the Battle Pass of Destiny 2 it doesn’t complete itself. And I shit on myself seven times for listening to everything they said about the campaign. You can’t get an idea of how much I enjoyed it! It has absolutely all the ingredients to freak me out.
The setting of the Cold War y Vietnam They are absolute positives. The story is great… and that having played the original Black Ops makes you see the shots coming from far, far away. see to Frank Woods, Alex Mason y Jason Hudson It has given me back years of life. Damn Woods! He is the best behind only Captain Price.
Call of Duty: Cold War missions
I’ve given enough time for those people who don’t want to eat Cold War spoilers to leave. Now that we’re the crazy ones that we’ve spent the campaign:There are few missions, but not a bad one
I can only say good things about evidence-based research system and the mission board of the base. I read that this made Cold War slow and boring, and I couldn’t disagree more. You force people to read and deduce a bit and they lose their minds!
Going back to the missions, I’ll refresh them just below so we’re all on the same page. Although I like them all, I have my Top. 3 pretty clear. This would be the order: Red Light, Green Light, Desperate measures y broken jaw.
- There is no escape.
- Broken jaw.
- One more brick in the wall.
- Red light, green light.
- Echoes of a cold war.
- Desperate measures.
- End of the journey.
- To the other side.
- Finals: Final Countdown or Ashes to Ashes.
The mission Red Light, Green Light it has no name. It begins as an infiltration of a Soviet base and ends up becoming a host shooting in US scenarios that the Russians use to train in case of invasion. They even throw in a Burger Town! The escape in an APC bursting doors and shooting the vehicle’s turret is indescribable. The scenarios make this mission the best by far.
Desperate measures it has a quieter start, focused on investigation and stealth. The second part is an infiltration in the Lubyanka Building, the KGB headquarters in Moscow, and in the middle of the Cold War! We got the information and escaped with heavy equipment, C4, machine guns… A complete massacre that ends in a getaway by car with explosions.
broken jaw. Every fan’s wet dream Apocalypse Now. It takes place in Vietnam and consists of two parts: one as infantry to recover some lost data and the other driving the mythical Bell UH-1 helicopter during the escape. Needless to say, there are machine guns and missiles involved. I only missed the themes of Fortunate Son and the Ride of the Valkyries background!
To finish and as a bonus, mention the second part of the mission There is no escape. It takes place in an airfield and ends in the only way a Call of Duty mission can end in such a place. I know I have warned about spoilers, but still I prefer not to say how it ends because it is a very epic and nostalgic moment.
I am aware that the campaign Call of Duty: Cold War It is not among the best, but I liked it more than the story of Modern Warfare II…and that is saying enough. Knowing this, she is likely to give Vanguard a chance. I have heard much worse horrors from that campaign mode, but the same thing that happened to me with Cold War is capable of happening to me. I’ll tell you!
