News culture This “Alien Romulus” actor did not expect this when he asked director Ridley Scott for advice
In August, horror and science fiction fans can turn their attention to Alien Romulus, a new installment in the franchise launched by Ridley Scott in 1979. The director did not hesitate to give his advice.
On August 14, 2024, the Alien saga will make its cinematic comeback with Alien Romulus, the seventh installment in the series. And it is not Ridley Scott, the creator, who is behind the camera. After the flops Prometheus – mixed for the latter – and Alien: Covenant, the filmmaker leaves his place to Fede Alvarez, whom we know from Don’t Breathe and the remake of Evil Dead (2013). A new vision that does not harm the license, but Ridley did not shy away from giving some advice!
“Don’t be shit”
In an interview with Rolling Stonewe learn that David Jonsson, who plays the android Andy here, spoke to Alien’s father during the filming of Romulus: “He just said to me, ‘Don’t be shit,’ something like that”he says. A statement that apparently didn’t affect him much. In the same article, the actor explains that the entire team had “absolute faith” in his talents and allowed him to “let go.”

Ridley Scott, relentless
Ridley Scott has a reputation for being uncompromising and not holding his tongue in his pocket… For this reason, Fede Álvarez himself was worried when it came time to preview the master alien Romulus. “I wanted Ridley Scott to see it before anyone else. And everyone told me that Ridley was really tough,” says the director Firstin 2023. But in fact, after the film was finished, the opposite happened: “He said: “Fede, what can I say? It’s absolutely brilliant!”“. An encouraging response that raises expectations for next August 14th. As a reminder, the events of Alien Romulus take place between Alien 1 and 2. Here, a group of young colonists set out to search for the wreckage of the famous ship Nostromo. But the Xenomorphs are not far away!
