Contrary to all expectations, this game from Bandai Namco, abandoned this year, is not completely dead. In consultation with the publisher, a studio has taken it over to give it a second chance.
The end of the year was particularly successful for Bandai Namco with the success of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, even if the total failure of Unknown 9 Awakening also spoiled the party somewhat. A flop that unfortunately led to the studio closing just weeks after the game's release. In the summer, the publisher also threw in the towel and decided to scrap a title developed with Amazon Games. To everyone's surprise, this canceled game is already coming back from the dead in a new form.
A Bandai Namco game rises from the ashes
At the end of August, Bandai Namco and Amazon Games pulled the plug on Blue Protocol. An action RPG designed to compete with Genshin Impact but with a much more advanced multiplayer dimension. With its cell-shaded art direction, the game was quite attractive, but its aesthetics couldn't change its fate. After a failure in Japan, Bandai Namco and Amazon Games didn't want to risk releasing it in the West. Blue Protocol was simply canceled and the servers were taken offline forever. But there is an unexpected twist.
Chinese studio Bokura, a subsidiary of giant Tencent, has been negotiating with Bandai Namco to make something of this license. Blue Protocol is no more, but thanks to this canceled game Stellar resonance. An action RPG MMO based on Bandai's intellectual property. Instead of starting from scratch, Bokura brought back features from the original game and took on the challenge of improving them.
Of course, the studio also comes with its own mechanics such as guild vendors, training dummies and many other things. Star Resonance, which will be available on PC, iOS and Android, is based on a gacha system and will have a battle pass.
