Many of us have grown up with Pokémon games and that inseparable relationship with Game Boy. It is difficult to explain the existence of one without the other. But there are many aspects that we don't know about the original game because the version changed when it reached the West. A few years ago many unpublished files of the first generation were leaked, where discarded designs and Pokémon were found that never saw the light as the pre-evolution of Vulpix. Others like Mew entered the cartridge by chance and paradoxically their appearances in the game were not casual. The coaches also had an evolution for remove details such as the use of the whip
As the popular user Dr. Lava explains, in the first generation many trainers used the whip to train their Pokémon. Now it seems like a terrible idea and someone had to give Game Freak a touch of attention so that they could be eliminated quickly. Not only did Team Rocket recruits represent themselves with this weapon, other characters like Sabrina also used it until the second generation, when the designs changed and therefore they eliminated this cruel object. You can see below these designs and the change that these characters suffered, except the tamers. By concept, this kind of coach that was introduced in the first generation kept his whip and a hypnotic lollipop that they use to control the creatures.
Whips in Pokemon:
Back in Gen 1, lots of trainers commanded their Pokemon using whips – not just Rocket Grunts, but even Sabrina. However, whips were quickly phased out – in Gen 2, all these same trainers were empty-handed… except for Tamers, who still use whips to this day. pic.twitter.com/KhO93JrsFh

Despite these changes, Pokémon has disturbing stories that they don't have much explanation. But the mystery has always been present in the franchise, something that players appreciate.
