Throughout the year, different well-known awards galas are held that are intended to choose the best video games that have been published in recent months. We have the BAFTAs, the GDC Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards and, of course, the awards that are presented at The Game Awards in mid-December, among many other events. All of them will be joined by another, as they will be los GEM Awards.
This week I was able to attend the presentation of these new awards that have just emerged and that stand out for the fact that their gala is going to be held in Europe, in Seville more specifically. However, those responsible behind them do not want it to be just an event like any other. Its purpose is to create something that can be very entertaining, immersive and offer more experiences for the entire gaming community.
What can we expect from the GEM Awards
This whole thing will be organized by three different companies: DFW Creative, Personaje Studio and Beon Worldwide, which can boast extensive experience in event production, which suggests that you will be in good hands. Regarding the chosen name, Pedro David García, director of this project, said that they were looking for a name that could match the world of video games, and gems are an item that is usually present in a multitude of titles.
For this reason, due to its colors and shapes, in addition to choosing a short name that could be memorable, GEM Awards was chosen. In short, a personal name that will leave us with calls gems of the year, the name of these awards. Even so, the purpose of those responsible is to connect with millions of players from all over the world so that no one wants to miss this event.
To get an idea of its magnitude, everything will take place in FIBES, the Congress and Exhibition Palace of the Andalusian capital. A space in which the organization expects more than 60 companies, 15,000 visitors, more than 45 influencers and more than 200 press media and content creators from 25 different countries to attend.
This is because the GEM Awards will not be limited exclusively to the awards ceremony at its corresponding gala. During the four days in which they will pass, from April 24 to 27with the aforementioned ceremony being on the 26th of that same month, the doors of this venue will be opened so that anyone can visit stands where there will be game stands, but presentations, meetings, contests and much more will also take place.
To go into more details, these are some of the activities that are planned:
- Cosplay: creative workshops, interactive panels and a contest in which the winner of the best costume will be able to present one of the prizes at the gala.
- F&B Area: an area where attendees can eat and rest peacefully.
- Stands: stalls where attendees can try games from all consoles and purchase merchandising products.
- Workshops: There will be educational sessions led by industry experts to discuss video game development, graphic design, and other topics.
- Video game tournaments: Participants will be able to demonstrate their skills in different games while competing for prizes of all kinds.
- arcade zone: a place where you can play arcade video games.
What will the GEM Awards gala be like?
On the same day, April 26, from 20:00 to 23:30this interactive gala will start with a hybrid format. Attendees will be able to enjoy this entire show, but it will also be possible to follow it from home thanks to a broadcast that will be broadcast via streaming on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.
Beyond distributing a series of prizes in a few categories, of which it has not been indicated how many there will be or which ones, you will be able to enjoy live performances, musical numbers and other surprisesamong which it has been guaranteed that there will be announcements that will impact all video game fans. Likewise, there will be a charity raffle in which special products will be auctioned, so that the money raised will go to Juegaterapia.
The organization's intention is for the gala to be fun and exude a lot of humor so that it is as enjoyable as possible. This way until you reach the jackpot, which will be the Gem of the Year.
