Is marathon a similar fate as Concord is imminent?
Multiplayer shooters are not easy. The market is highly competitive and that has already asked for some victims. Last year it was caught by Sony's Taufrische Concord, who was pulled back after only two weeks.
A new shooter will soon be released with marathon. This is developed by bungie behind genre sizes Halo and Destiny. But the first pictures of the extraction spectacle are reminiscent of the Sony slump from last year. One of the former Concord developers doesn't want to leave it that way.

On Reddit, the former senior vfx artist from Firewalk Studios, Stephan Williams. He had followed the reactions to the reporting around marathon and asks the community to give the new shooter a chance.

In his post, Williams explains that he is aware of what was a great failure concord. The Hero shooter did not manage to keep up his players. The project to see was “heartbreaking” for the developer.

In the comments under the Reddit contribution, the community is benevolent. The appeal to see the people behind the studios apparently wore fruit.
Concord was a bitter setback for Sony. The publisher was able to record a great success with the live service shooter Helldivers 2, but that has not been reproduced so far. Bungie has also been part of Sony since 2022 and has been releasing a new game for the first time in eight years.
Marathon is said to be a entry-friendly extraction shooter in which dying is not punished as hard as in genre colleagues. It remains to be seen whether this is enough to acquire your own player base.
