The developers of Valheim continue to work on their next major update, which aims to bring the so-called Ashlands to new, fiery glory and fill them with creatures and interesting locations. Now for the first time there is a picture of the new area and some information about what to expect there. What the developers previously revealed is summarized in this article:
So will the Ashlands
Already, the Ashlands of Valheim are a pretty inhospitable place, described as some sort of realm of the dead. However, the update is intended to create a threatening and gloomy atmosphere, as the first image from a developer blog shows:
The area may not only remind us of the black land of Mordor, but there are probably no orcs here. Instead, the developers recently showed ano ther creature
Strange creatures aside, the Burning Wastes appears to be pretty much dead. We are unlikely to find water or food here, but there are probably fortresses to explore. What these gloomy walls look like is already indicated Image of individual bajudge that are still being developed. The monsters that have already been introduced may also live there:
In the previous version of the Ashlands we also find glowing metal, but it still serves no purpose. That too should change with the update. Maybe we can use it to forge a particularly strong suit of armor.
There is no release date for the update yet, but it will appear before then Hildir’s Quest
a minor update with new clothing, mysterious caves and some convenience features.
