Toei Animation announced several days ago that the One Piece anime would be taking a break to improve the quality of the animation in the One Piece arc. Egghead. As a make-up during the hiatus, the studio also confirmed the release of a remastered version of one of its previous arcs.
Luffy and his crew will return to the Fishman Island with improvements in animation and a more agile pace, eliminating the filler of the original adaptation. Although the series planned to return this weekend, an important baseball tournament (the most watched sport in the country) will delay the premiere to November 3, 2024.
Like other Toei Animation series, it will be Crunchyroll who is in charge of releasing the remastered anime weekly. The new edition will consist of 21 episodes, which will be published until approximately March, at which time the broadcast of the current episodes in the Future Island arc will resume.
It has not yet been confirmed whether these remasters will cover other arcs, but everything indicates that Toei Animation plans to apply these changes to each post-timeskip arc. In parallel, Netflix and Wit Studio will develop a complete remake of the previous chapters up to Marineford.
