The release of the iPhone 14 is getting closer, the rumors about the design and the technical equipment continue to intensify. A youtuber managed to snag a dummy unit of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and compares it to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
A dummy unit is a non-functional model of the smartphone. Such units are used, for example, by manufacturers of iPhone cases and other accessories to manufacture them. The design and dimensions come from Apple itself, the dummy unit was made by a Chinese manufacturer. The Youtuber does not reveal exactly which one it is.
However, since the specs and design come from Apple, we can assume that the model is very close to the real iPhone 14 Pro Max. In addition, it is of very high quality and can hardly be distinguished from a working iPhone. Although it only shows the design and the dimensions, we can deduce some of the technical innovations of the new iPhone here.

These are the differences between the iPhones
At first glance, the iPhone 13 Pro Max and its successor look very similar. The differences can hardly be seen with the naked eye. Unbox Therapy therefore uses a measuring device to clearly identify them. But you can also see a difference with the naked eye: the notch has disappeared from the display and makes room for the so-called Pill and pothole design

As you can see in the video, it’s an indentation at the top of the display that looks like a pill, with a round hole next to it. The technology for Apple’s Face ID is said to be in the pill, while the camera is in the hole. With the design, Apple creates more space on the display overall. According to rumors, the pill and hole will only be used on the Pro models of the iPhone 14.
The next technically relevant difference is the camera hump. The iPhone 14 Pro Max model is slightly larger than its predecessor. Overall, the hump is wider and the individual lenses have a larger diameter. This aligns with rumors that Apple plans to upgrade the camera this year.

Larger case speaks for more battery power
The Youtuber’s measurements also show that the new Pro Max is slightly thicker than its predecessor. This could indicate that Apple wants to increase battery capacity with the next generation. Thicker and larger models often use the space for a larger battery.
Ultimately, the edges of the display on the iPhone 14 are a bit thinner than those of the predecessor, giving you even more space on the display with the new model. Most of the design changes confirm the rumors we previously reported:
