WhatsApp will launch in 2025 with four new functions, according to one Blog entry by Meta. These are:
- React faster with a double tap
- Share sticker sets
- New camera effects
- Create stickers from selfies
We will introduce you to the new functions and explain how you can use them directly in your app.
1. Respond faster
You can respond to messages more quickly by double-tapping the message in quick succession. Then the emoji bar opens. Before you had to hold down the message for a long time. However, both functions still work.
2. Share entire sticker sets
You can access the stickers using the icon on the left side of your input field. There you will find different sticker sets that fit together thematically. Once you have found a sticker set, press the small button at the bottom right + number
. Then the entire sticker set opens.
You can send entire sets to your WhatsApp contacts using the arrow button at the top right.
3. New camera effects
To take a selfie of yourself directly in the chat, press the camera symbol on the right side of your input field. Then the selfie mode of your smartphone opens. Here you can take photos or videos.
If you press the little magic wand next to the record button, a series of fun effects, filters and backgrounds will open. You can put on dog ears, activate a kaleidoscope filter and conjure up palm trees in your photo background.
4. Create your own stickers from selfies
You can now make stickers of yourself directly in the app. To do this, tap on the sticker button on the left in your input field. On the far left, in front of your recently used stickers, is a green one Create
button with a pen.
Here you can either take a photo first or select from your existing photos. WhatsApp will then create a sticker for you that you can share in the chat straight away.
What do you think about the new features? Have you already tried them and if so, which one do you like best? Did WhatsApp ever introduce an entertaining feature that you still use today? Or are you purists and only use the most necessary functions of the messenger? Write it to us in the comments!
