Gaming News This video game is less beautiful on PS5 Pro than on the base PS5 due to this patch, a new difficulty for developers?
This should have been one of the flashiest titles on PS5 Pro, and yet players are very frustrated: this version for the Pro console is much less “pretty” than the PS5 one. This is an issue that has occurred in the past and is affecting Ubisoft today. The studio is informed!
Things break in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and not in a good way. In theory, the PS5 Pro should offer an improved experience of this title developed by Massive Entertainment, a studio owned by publisher Ubisoft. Gold, It appears that PSSR (AI upscaling technology) is missing, resulting in a sort of pixel mush in some images. However, Ubisoft assured in its announcement that the game would run perfectly on the PS5 Pro at 60 frames per second in quality mode.
Is it me or is the game really ugly since the Pro update? Grainy and strange image? Before this update it was much nicer. Ubisoft is clearly my certain doom. – JV forum user.

The PSSR determines success or failure
To TwitterIn addition, one user reports “lots of bugs”, NPCs “that all look the same”. He adds: “Our character's hand doesn't even hold the Ikran when he rides it.” The fact that this avatar work performs worse on the Pro console than its predecessor is very bad advertising, whether for Ubisoft or PlayStation. However, it should be remembered that this problem appeared from the first moments of the PS4 Pro, a machine on which The Last of Us Remastered encountered graphical difficulties that did not exist on the PS4.
A solution?
The PS5 Pro version of Avatar: Frontier of Pandora arrived with the game's Update 1.2, an expansion that was also delayed due to a “critical last-minute issue,” we're told Ubisoft. Given the negative feedback on this “improved” version of the title, the studio was quickly informed.
Avatar: Frontier of Pandora is not the only improved version for the PS5 Pro that has problems with PSSR: a similar phenomenon was observed with Silent Hill 2 (2024), for example. Apparently a patch deployed on November 23rd addresses this issue as it simply removes the PSSR for performance mode. Conversely, there is nothing to say about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth or Stellar Blade, which cope wonderfully with this technology.
