Do you like it when things go bang and crash? Then you’re probably a real shooter fan. And because you can never get enough of a good shooter, Valve has put together a big free bundle full of top-class shooters this weekend that you can try out for free over the next few days.
We’ll show you which games are available and who they’re worth it for. The following applies to all three shooters: The promotion is limited in timeThe titles will be removed from your library on Monday evening, so it’s worth being quick.

Hell Let Loose – Test video for the big multiplayer shooter – Test video for the big multiplayer shooter
Hell Let Loose is a hardcore shooter for anyone who likes realism. There are no quick matches with killstreaks and akimbo pistols like in Call of Duty, but the realistic and sometimes painfully slow horror of war.
The shooter is set in World War II, with battlefields such as Kursk and Stalingrad. In large-scale battles with up to 100 players, you compete against each other with tanks, artillery and 14 classes of foot soldiers.
Each class fulfills very different team tasks. Hell Let Loose is not just about shooting at each other; you also have to build supply routes and establish a command structure. In this respect, the shooter is almost like a strategy game.
GameStar colleague Dimi Halley has also already tried out Hell Let Loose. You can find his review below.

Free Game #2: GTFO

GTFO: Release trailer for the hardcore co-op shooter shows aliens and dense atmosphere
GTFO is also a strategic game. In this sci-fi co-op shooter from some former PayDay developers, you take on the role of looters and have to recover valuable artifacts from an underground complex. The problem: the complex is infested with hundreds of disgusting aliens.
To survive, you have to use tools and resources sparingly – just one mistake can mean the end for the whole team. Good preparation and communication are therefore important.
Simply shooting away rarely leads to success here; instead, stealth and intelligence are required to survive the nightmarish trip into space. Fans of the Alien films by legendary director Ridley Scott should get their money’s worth here.

Gratisspiel #3: Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic: The co-op hit returns in Season 3 with lots of new content
Our third shooter candidate is more tranquil, but no less intense. In Deep Rock Galactic – also sci-fi, also co-op – you play a group of dwarves who are searching for raw materials in randomly generated cave systems.
However, this mine also has a monster problem. Hordes of alien beetles and deadly traps make space mining a dangerous undertaking. A special feature of Deep Rock Galactic are the destructible levels, through which you can blast, dig or drill your way as you please.
There are four classes available to you: The Gunner carries heavy equipment to fight enemies, the Navigator scouts the area and provides light, the Driller drills through the rock and the Engineer builds gun turrets and other useful structures. You can use collected minerals to buy upgrades between missions and take on more difficult jobs.

Finally, here’s a portion of useless knowledge from the GameStar editorial team: For genre expert Phil Elsner, a game qualifies as a shooter if it has grenades to throw. According to this definition, the role-playing game Fallout 3 is also a real shooter. Fire in the Hole!
Next weekend we’ll have fresh supplies again – so bargain hunters should stop by next Friday.
