A virtuoso director could very well take over the helm of Thor 5 if actor Chris Hemsworth agrees to return to Marvel Studios for a new film.
Thor love and thunder made an impression, but not in a positive way. This is one of the most striking examples of the decline of the Marvel Studios film and even television universe. Even its leading man, Chris Hemsworth, admitted that the film was it “too stupid”and that the special effects simply weren’t up to p ar. And we can’t decently disagree with him, despite the presence of Natalie Portman in the cast, who, it must be said, also messed up in this episode. Nevertheless, this fourth work was not a commercial success and Thor 5 could be part of one of the next phases of the MCU.
“Thor 5” could be directed by an action star
Thor 5 is currently not officially in the works. And if we ask Taika Waititi, the director of the last two parts, for his opinion and a comment on his involvement, it’s pretty clear. He knows nothing and has other fish to fry. “I don’t know if the rumor is true. But I know I won’t be involved… I will focus on the other films I am committed to.” he explained.
A replacement expected by Marvel Studios? As far as Thor 5 isn’t validated yet, no, but a contender has just emerged. The great George Miller, director of the cult saga “Mad Max”, could imagine directing Chris Hemsworth in “Thor 5”. And even anything else, as long as he finds the actor to play the new villain of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
“I would work with Chris on anything. I would really do that. He is a wonderful actor. He has all the necessary skills. I mean, you have to be physically athletic but also emotional and intellectual to be able to play these very complex roles. And even play some role. So I was very lucky with my entire cast and especially with the compatibility between Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris.
Chris Hemsworth wouldn’t turn down a new film
And is Chris Hemsworth ready for Thor 5 despite the criticism of the last episode? Well, yes, but it is not unconditional. “I don’t want to keep going until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me on screen. If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something in it that we think is exciting and entertaining, then that’s great. I don’t have an answer yet, but I’d like to
Chris Hemsworth also explained that a change in tone was needed for his return to be relevant. In other words, we shouldn’t go back to extremes like Love and Thunder did. Since George Miller directed Thor 5, his wish was granted. Given the filmmaker’s incredible mastery of action cinema, this would be a major snag for Marvel. But would the director fit the superhero house mold? This is clearly a completely different story…
