A little news for those who are nostalgic for Golden Sun and RPGs from the Game Boy Advance era, this next game is made for you and was created by a French studio.
In recent years, remasters and remakes have enjoyed great popularity. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and publishers do not hesitate to update some of their most famous licenses. There is one that JRPG lovers would like to revisit: Golden Sun. Their wish was half fulfilled with the arrival of the two cult episodes that brought the GBA to its heyday in the Nintendo Switch Online catalog. Those looking for something new will soon have a game especially for them: Tako no Himitsu.
For fans of Golden Sun and GBA JRPGs
Behind this tribute to the Game Boy Advance RPGs lies a small French studio based in Grenoble. A spiritual sequel to their first game, Save Me Mr. Tako, this more ambitious project aims to strike a nostalgic chord with its pretty little face and its atmosphere inspired by the productions of yesteryear. It is, of course, an adventure with a capital A to save the world from a forgotten threat that is resurfacing. More than six playable characters are planned, each of whom will offer a story and a different perspective on this universe. And when we mention Golden Sun, it is not trivial. Motoi Sakuraba, composer of the legendary license, will sign some of the game’s tracks, just like Masanori Hikichi, known for his work on Terranigma.
However, this game will only see the light of day with your help. The studio Deneos Games has started a fundraising campaign Kickstarter To support the development of the game, in just a few hours they have already raised $ 31,443 of the $ 50,000 target. Several rewards are available, from the classic physical edition with extras to the collector’s edition, including the option to have an NPC in your game image. The most curious can try the game now thanks to the 1h30 demo now available on Steam. This homage to Golden Sun and the GBA is scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2026.
