The most recent release in the franchise was Total War: Pharaoh, which was created by Creative Assembly Sofia and published by SEGA for Windows; A Mac version, however, appeared via Feral Interactive. Pharaoh chose a much more realistic approach than previous series installments such as Warhammer and Three Kingdoms, which relied more on fantasy elements. With a new part you could now go into a sci-fi setting.
As of October 2023, according to the source, a supposed Total War: Star Wars will be the second planned of the three new Total War games. Games within the franchise were often released on an annual basis, with the exception of 2021, when there was no new part of the series. If you stick to this basic structure, then a release of Total War: Star Wars could appear fairly soon. However, it is not possible to make reliable statements about this because it is unclear how far the three individual Total War games have actually progressed in their development cycle.
An official announcement of the new Total War parts, including the potential Star Wars game, is still pending. For now, Creative Assembly Sofia is working on a big update for the current Total War: Pharaoh – that’s certain. Among other things, the campaign map should grow and additional cultures should be introduced.
