Urban landscape designer, The cold and beautiful city builder from Oskar Stalberg (you may know he is the developer behind Bad North) is now ready to play Xbox Game Pass.
Townscaper has long been the darling of social media. If you hang out on Twitter like me, you will often see it pop up because other independent developers share small clips of towns and villages they make. The building appeared in a very satisfying “pop”, and the whole thing was more like a toy box experience than a traditional game. If you have time, I urge you to give it a try. Honestly, it is a pleasure.
“Build quaint island towns with crooked streets, small villages, towering cathedrals, a network of canals, or sky cities on stilts. Build the town of your dreams, block by block,” a brief introduction to the game. “There is no goal. There is no real gameplay. Only a lot of buildings and a lot of beauty. That’s it.”
In the game, you can choose colors from the palette, place colored house blocks on an irregular grid, and then watch Townscaper’s underlying algorithm automatically turn these blocks into small houses, arches, stairs, bridges, and lush backyards. It depends on where you build.
For those who like to harvest achievements, this game is also surprisingly good. If you intend to complete the game, you can get the full 1000G from the game in no more than 10 minutes.
Check out the game on the Microsoft Store here.
