Hardly any game is currently making such waves before release as The Day Before – but mostly to the negative. Numerous fans now doubt the authenticity or sincerity of the developers and question whether a game is really being created here. You can read the details in our chronicle of The Day Before controversy.
Due to pressure from the community, the first gameplay for the game was recently shown – and that also causes discussions beyond the quality of the scenes. Twitter user Chroma has captured some pretty startling parallels between the released footage and other games – and the internet is once again discussing the line between inspiration and brazen copy.
Parallels between The Day Before and other games
Twitter user Chroma contrasts the beginning of The Day Before trailer shown with the Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War zombie mode trailer:

This criticism is part of various allegations that the community has expressed in recent months. According to the accusations, The Day Before is also said to be very strongly inspired by other games in its promotional material. For example in The Division:

Chroma also captures parallels between The Day Before and the muddy truck sim Snowrunner, Resident Evil 2 and The Last of Us. Of course, there are also defenders who speak of creative inspiration. A reference to other games does not have to be plagiarism.
On the other hand, it can at least be stated without a doubt that the developers are doing themselves a disservice to weaving in such strong parallels to an old CoD trailer in the latest video as well.
