If you’ve played the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta, then you’re probably already used to messing around with Skyline and Derelict. Interestingly, according to Treyarch, the maps won’t be much larger than they will be at launch.
The information was revealed via Twitter, with the official Treyarch Twitter account revealing the future multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Not only did we learn that 16 multiplayer maps will be available at launch, we also learned that medium-sized maps like Skyline will have a large advantage in size.

This may sound surprising, because Skyline does not necessarily feel That It’s pretty big, but to be fair, it’s a multi-story map with two floors and a fairly large exterior. It’s also worth noting that the flow of the map makes it fairly fast-paced, encouraging players to dash into other players’ sights rather than sneak around to flank.
Treyarch provided some additional context in a follow-up tweet, adding: “We know map fluidity and variety are critical to the best player experience, and we’ve got maps of multiple sizes ready for Black Ops fans at launch. Stay tuned for more details on the team’s focus areas coming soon, including tactical maps for all the locations you haven’t played yet! Stay tuned, and thank you for participating in the beta!”
Reactions on community hubs like Twitter and Reddit have been mixed, but that’s to be expected, as players haven’t seen these new maps yet and don’t know how they differ in terms of flow and variety. But it’s an interesting change from previous games, leaning into Black Ops 6’s emphasis on tense firefights, where high mobility in a variety of environments can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
