Don’t expect final fantasy 14 and 16 Producer Naoki Yoshida will return with No. 17 because he believes a younger team should take over.
Yoshida (affectionately known as Yoshi-P to fans) recently discussed a range of topics with former Sony Interactive Entertainment president Shuhei Yoshida on the AIAS Game Maker’s Notebook podcast, including whether the Final Fantasy XVI producer thinks he might want to Participated in the production of “Final Fantasy 16”. Next part, 17. The producer didn’t answer the question exactly, noting that because he’s “on the board now,” he thought “maybe it’s time for a new guy instead of having the same old guy handle the next one.”
On a point that I couldn’t agree more with (being not a big fan of 16), Yoshi-P said that he thinks “in some ways, it would be good to look forward and bring in the younger generation, more people.” Young Emotion creates a new Final Fantasy with challenges appropriate for today’s world. When Yoshida asked Yoshi-P if he had any advice for the young Final Fantasy XVII director, the producer noted that “Final Fantasy is about challenging what has been done before.”
“While I certainly don’t want to conflict with the old games, we all went into making Final Fantasy games thinking ‘My game will be the most fun!’ So my advice is, before thinking too hard about it, think about what you think is the most fun. Fun Final Fantasy on paper.

“Then, from there, you can decide something because [Final Fantasy] 16 is real time action, my final fantasy will have real time action and turn based combat. Or you could go to the other extreme and return it to its fully turn-based pixel art roots. ”
Return to turn-based Final Fantasy? Pixel art? I don’t want to be part of the conversation on Twitter the day it happens, but good luck to those invested in this concept. Regardless, Final Fantasy 17 is definitely still some time away, but at least the very good-looking Final Fantasy 7 Reborn will be out next month to keep us busy.
