twitch Measures are being taken to quell subscription Globally, and has announced changes to the subscription price to make it “equal” globally.
Traditionally, no matter where you are, a level 1 subscription on Twitch will charge you a flat fee of $4.99. Now, to make things fairer in the international community, Twitch announced that most regions outside the United States will see lower subscription fees.
Turkey (9.90 Turkish lira) and Mexico (48 pesos) will be the first regions to see this change May 20 Before seeing the impact of this initiative in Asia, Latin America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, Third quarter of 2021. The changes will affect existing, new and qualified submarines.
“[…The $4.99] Price makes it difficult for many viewers to support creators they like, and it also prevents creators from developing their own communities. “Twitch said.
For creators, this may be a big deal, and as the local community adjusts to Twitch’s new prices, creators may find that their income is affected. Twitch is aware of this and promises to bear some expenses in the short term.
The company stated: “Twitch will pay 100% of the base channel and Prime sub-revenue (if needed) within three calendar months (including the month of price changes).”
“After that, we will slowly reduce incentive payments by 25% every three months for the next 9 months for a total of 12 months to provide income adjustment incentives.”
Once local sub-pricing is implemented, Twitch recommends that qualified creators use its creator dashboard to view their monthly baseline number, actual subscription revenue, and upcoming streaming requirements that must be met in order to qualify for the program.
Twitch will look at the creator’s “benchmark” statistics, and if the creator has flowed at least 85% of their live broadcast benchmark hours in a month and meets “certain other eligibility criteria,” it will pay the creator an “income adjustment incentive”.
The company believes that for most viewers, this is a good change, because it means that more viewers will be more inclined to subscribe. Twitch is based on an experiment it conducted in Brazil and data on the ratio of active users to subscribers of the platform in all countries/regions.
