It’s not just Assassin’s Creed at Ubisoft and we mustn’t forget the highly anticipated remake of Prince of Persia, which brings with it some news.
If it’s special for some time Assassin’s Creed Mirage What makes for a lot of conversation at Ubisoft with a great trailer, we can’t ignore either Prince of Persia remake. The game, originally slated for release in 2021, won’t even see the light of day in 2023. And Ubisoft announces some news on the subject.
Prince of Persia Remake, the game is alive
We can only learn that to our great despair Prince of Persia remake will not be attending the Ubisoft Forward conference, which was normally scheduled to take place on June 12th during Summer Game Fest. It’s disappointing but that’s how it is, Ubisoft judges that the title is not yet ready to be revealed and we can understand it if we remember the mocking reception of the first images of the game. Worse, the game is actually in the design phase with a complete restart of development when it was transferred to Ubisoft Montreal last year. Producer Jean-François Naud explains:
As for the development phase, we are currently in the design phase. Since taking on the project, we’ve looked at the community’s feedback and found our own way of delivering the game. Now we’re building the team, prioritizing, assembling prototypes, testing things, and looking at how we can also incorporate community feedback into development. It’s still in its infancy and players shouldn’t expect to learn more about the game this year, but rest assured that we’re putting all our heart and soul into this project.
So fans aren’t ready to get their hands on it just yet.
A real remake and not just a remaster
As its name suggests Prince of Persia remake will be a real remake and not just a simple remaster. That’s why there is a big emphasis on modernizing movements (very important for PoP) and combat:
It’s been 20 years since the original game came out and not only has the technology evolved – which of course you need for a remaster – but I think we as players and game developers have evolved since that time. . I don’t think a remaster would do enough justice to these developments; I think you have to do a remake to really evolve the game to fit in a modern context.
Prince of Persia, a fabulous game
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is an action-adventure video game that was released in 2003. It is the first game in the Sands of Time trilogy, which also includes Warrior Within (2004) and The Two Thrones (2005). For the lunatics, the game is about a young prince who unwittingly becomes involved in an epic quest to stop an evil wizard who has unleashed the Sands of Time, a powerful magic capable of manipulating time. The prince must navigate the environment, solving puzzles and fighting enemies to restore order.
