Just a few hours ago, Jason-les-bons-pipes revealed the start of a certain Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a new massively multiplayer episode in the form of a game service. Ubisoft was probably aware of the revelations (did you?) And it wasn’t too late to officially act.

The summer season usually gives an entire industry a deep breath. But that was before. The world before, as the other would say. Between announcements of a new switch model, the vnements and direct and the leak of this website, this year 2021 is decidedly different from any other.
Endless possibilities
The managing directors of Ubisoft Qubec, Nathalie Bouchard and Ubisoft Montral Christophe Derennes, have taken their pen in hand and their precautions to quickly comply with the Bloomberg article that appeared a few hours ago. So, while we know Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will continue to be groomed the hard way, the future of the series will be in a very different direction:
This change of course means we’re flying with the video game industry. The pandemic and working from home have fundamentally changed the way we make games and given us the opportunity to think about our organization. Assassin’s Creed was born inside the walls of Ubisoft Montreal before Ubisoft Qubec then took over Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Odyssey and demonstrated its ability to control the license.
Rather than passing the baton on from game to game, we strongly believe that one of Ubisoft’s most popular series has the opportunity to evolve in more integrated and collaborative ways., less studio focused and more talent and leadership focused, no matter where you are at Ubisoft.
The new formula recipe will therefore merge the two structures (a new one that is loud Screamers didn’t really please everyone internally), for a result that combines the best of both worlds on paper:
The new collaborative structure between the studios will be led by Marc-Alexis Ct, who will become executive producer of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As a founding member of Ubisoft Qubec, Ct began work on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood before becoming Creative Director at Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and, more recently, Senior Producer at Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. He is joined by Tienne Allonier of Ubisoft Montreal, Brand Director for Assassin’s Creed for 10 years, and their respective teams to ensure the series continues to exceed player expectations.
To kill a hocking bird
Undoubtedly well aware of the turmoil the announcement could cause to an audience that has sometimes been there since 2007, Ubisoft is largely used to changing eras (and often heroes) in each episode and tries to calm its audience by doing it the very Parisian exercise of Drop names :
The creative directions for Assassin’s Creed Infinity will come from the collaboration between the two studios. Jonathan Dumont and Clint Hocking will share leadership as Creative Directors and oversee their respective teams at Ubisoft Qubec and Ubisoft Montral. Dumont was previously the Global Director of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at Ubisoft Qubec before becoming the Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Hocking began in 2001 as a level designer, game designer and screenwriter on the first episode of Splinter Cell before becoming creative director on Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2 and, more recently, Watch Dogs Legion.
History doesn’t say whether or not this prestigious list will reassure aspiring assassins and others, or whether the series will keep us waiting for this all-new, evolving game service model to hit the market, which shouldn’t arrive before 2024 on us bring the way:
We hope you will join us on this incredible journey and we will be more than happy to tell you more about what is to come for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Infinity at a later date.
