When Uncharted: Drake's Destiny came out on PlayStation 3 in 2007, hardly anyone thought seriously about real-time ray tracing in games. At the time, most of them would probably not even have been able to start with the term.

Today it is different and one could ask the question, how would the forefather of the Uncharted series look like on a modern high-end gaming PC? The YouTube channel Digital Dreams has now investigated this and provides the answer in a current video.

Digital Dreams uses the to get Uncharted: Drake's fate to run on the PC at all PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3. For the improved lighting, respectively ray tracing effects came Pascal Gilcher's Raytracing Global Illumination (RT GI) for ReShade. Incidentally, there is a beta version against a small salary for a Patreon membership with Pascal Gilcher himself.

Of course, the ray tracing GI is not real ray tracing, but so-called post-processing (post-processing). No graphics card with dedicated ray tracing cores, such as the RTX 2080 Ti, is required. Digital Dreams uses an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti.

Either way, the result is impressive, even if you look at Uncharted: Drake's fate, that it has been around for 13 years and is intended for the PlayStation 3.

Previously, Digital Dreams already showed what is in the 2019 PC hit Red Dead Redemption 2 and perennial favorite The Witcher 3.
