After Battlefield 2042 only tweaked the weapon balance a little with the last patch and brought other minor changes, Update 2.2, which will be released on October 20, 2022, will add new content again. You can find out which weapons you can now play in All Out Warfare and what the revised map looks like here.
However, you can read all about the new infantry game mode and earnable rewards that a new event is about to bring in its own article:

What does update 2.2 bring?
New vault weapons
Since the release of Season 2, so-called Vault weapons have been coming into the All Out Warfare modes, which come from previous Battlefield games and were previously only available in Portal. With Update 2.2 there are three new vault weapons that can be unlocked by completing contracts:
Waffen | assignments |
---|---|
ACW-R | – 100 Kills or Assists with their ACW-R (in Portal) or their M5A3 – 20 headshot kills with assault rifles |
AKS-74u | – 100 Kills or Assists with their AKS-74u (in Portal) or their AM40 – 8 kills with assault rifles from a distance of 25 meters or less |
MP412 REX | – 60 kills or assists with the MP412 REX (in Portal) or the M44 Turret – 10 headshot kills with sub-weapons |
Map rework by Orbital
When Battlefield 2042 was released, its maps were also sharply criticized. Players often had to walk very long distances and could only seek cover in a few places. The developers have therefore been working on map reworks for some time, several of which have already been published. With Update 2.2, a new version of Orbital comes into play, which is presented with a video:

As can be seen there, a lot of new cover and details have been added: wrecked tanks, containers and sandbags are scattered across the terrain and the roads are torn apart by blast craters. But the structure of the map has also been changed:
The former Checkpoint and Radar capture points are now the headquarters of the two teams. A new capture point (D1) has been set up on the hill between the power plant on the coast and the large area around the launch pad, which is also connected to the tunnel below. The map now looks like this:
The new structure should enable shorter walking distances and smoother gameplay. In addition, the atmosphere of the map with the military and war-torn look should also be improved.
Persistent Portal Servers
With Update 2.2, Premium Battle Pass buyers have the option to set up a persistent portal server. This is permanently displayed there in the server browser as long as players were active in the last 7 days.
Previously, portal servers were shut down as soon as there were no more players on the server. We have already addressed why this initially inconspicuous innovation has great potential:
