With the Next Gen Update, CD Projekt Red recently gave the seven-year-old The Witcher 3 a multitude of new features and improvements. For the occasion, we tested the game again and couldn’t believe that one of the best games of the last few years can take it a step further:

How does the RPG play after the next gen update?
The biggest disadvantage of the update is probably the great hardware hunger that goes hand in hand with the graphical improvements. However, the new Patch 4.01, which is available now, should help – a little. We summarize the most important changes for you.
What is improved with patch 4.01?
Some of the changes are specific to PC gamers. Bugs are fixed and performance improved here:
- Fixed a bug that made sure that the

- Get ray tracing effects for global illumination a new performance mode, which should increase your FPS and provide more stable frame rates. You sometimes have to accept compromises in the distance display and precision of the effects.

Also, some critical bugs in various quests that caused crashes or didn’t let you complete quests have been fixed. The patch notes with further changes and fixes can be found on page 2.
