The indie title Valheim was able to win incredibly this year and is one of the great success stories. The hype surrounding the game seems to be unbroken and the sales figures are impressive.
The Viking build-up survival game Valheim was able to win huge after its release and went over the counter four million times. Mind you in the first three weeks. Now that the publisher Embracer Group has submitted its financial report, it is clear that the hype surrounding the game continues unabated.
Accordingly, Valheim has now sold a whopping 6.8 million copies, an almost unbelievable amount for an indie title from a five-man studio from Sweden. There is no end in sight, the Embracer Group expects another 1 to 1.2 million copies to follow this quarter by the end of June. The game is now appearing less and less in the Steam charts of the most played titles, but that should change with the next update of the game, which is still in Early Access, at the latest.
As a publisher, the Embracer Group seems to have a knack for smaller titles that are still successful. SnowRunner went two million times over the table, Destroy All Humans brought it to one million.
