If you haven’t looked at the survival game Valheim for a while, you’ll soon have a few good reasons to get back into the rough Viking world. Because the highlight of the upcoming update are icy dungeons that you can explore.
In this article you can find out what new content is coming your way beyond the dark caves. And if you are interested in how Valheim should continue in the long term, we also have the answers ready for you:
Valheim
This is how it continues after Hearth & Home
A blessing for controller fans
The new ice caves are generated the first time the game is started after the update, which is why the loading process can take a little longer once. Incidentally, you can only find the new dungeons in still unexplored areas
The developers do not reveal in detail what awaits you in the frosty underground. However, we are leaning very far out of the window and dare to predict that you will have to reckon with enemy contact. So it’s best to pack your axe, shield and some food before you set off.
The whole thing can now be controlled even better! Because apart from the ice dungeons, there is a whole range of other innovations, including the full controller support long awaited by fans. By the way, its addition has a simple reason, because the new patch also makes Valheim compatible for the new Steam Deck. This also includes the scaling of the UI.
What else is added? Other new features of the update include:
- New enemies: Wolves, cultists, bats
- New crafting materials: Red Burlap, Fenring Hair, Fenring Claws
- New armor set: Fenris Cloak, Fenris Leggings, Fenris Hood (includes bonuses if you wear them all at once)
- New weapon: Flesh Rippers
- New furniture: Red jute carpet, red jute curtains, standing brazier
- New Event:
You stirred the cauldron
- You can now pause the game at any time in single player mode
- Added FPS limiter, reduced background load
There are also a number of bug fixes and minor tweaks. As usual, you can find the full patch notes on page 2 of this article.
By the way, when you place the new furniture in your home, you should be careful – because a small mistake can already lead to you being punished personally by the god of thunder:
Valheim
A small construction error causes Thor to damage your base
