At the beginning of 2023, Riot Games will start the next content-related episode in the successful online shooter Valorant. It’s already starting in the new week!
Developer Riot Games has announced that Valorant will go into its next episode as early as next week. On January 10, 2023, the starting signal will be given for Act I of Episode 6, which will then also bring the new Lotus card with it; this will be added to the game’s map pool in the future.
Lotus is a lost city in the Western Ghats, India, inspired by traditional Indian stepwells and Dravidian architecture carved into the rock. The three areas and the new mechanics are special: rotating doors, a destructible wall and a silent shaft.
Brian Yam, Art Lead at Riot Games, explains of the new map: “We wanted to explore the idea of great adventures, ancient mysteries and lost ancient structures. Indiana Jones was one of our biggest inspirations. Visually we were fascinated by the rock-cut architecture, as it brings a mystical vibe to the theme. It also took us in a new direction compared to our existing maps, as most of them are mostly urban or feature modern architecture.”
In addition, there is also a fresh Battle Pass with numerous rewards in the latest act. In addition to banners, titles, talismans and sprays, this also includes the “9 Lives” and “Venturi” skin series. The Battle Pass costs 1,000 VP, but as usual, it also comes with free rewards.
Separately there will also be the “Araxys Skin Bundle” which will feature skins for Vandal, Operator, Shorty, Bulldog and Meelee. Aim for Araxys was the embodiment of danger, mystery and power of an unknown and potentially dangerous alien race.
