Fans of Riot Games are currently in for a treat. Tomorrow, August 28, 2024, not only will the patch for version 9.04 be released, which will bring numerous adjustments and improvements. With Vyse, there is also a new agent who can bend metal, which brings with it some exciting possibilities.
Metalbending sounds like a cheap rip-off of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but let me tell you: Vyse has some skills up her sleeve that could really shake up your Valorant matches. She will be available from August 28, 2024 at 10:00 p.m. Central European Time.
How to play Vyse
I was able to do my first rounds with Vyse on a test server and I see a lot of potential in her, but she definitely needs some training. For example, with “Arch Rose” she places a small bud on a surface that you have to trigger manually. All enemies that look in her direction are then blinded. This skill is particularly useful in defense, but you can also use it to secure captured spike spots.
The same applies to the “scissors”. You don’t use them to cut your opponents in half, but instead place traps, ideally in passageways. When activated, these cause metal walls to appear that are impenetrable and can therefore very effectively stop a push. However, the next few months will have to show on which maps and in which spots it makes the most sense to place it. The “razor vine” also needs to be placed in the right place; this skill, which is activated manually, slows down opponents and even causes damage.
The uses for Vyse’s ultimate should be particularly exciting. After a short charging time, the “Steel Garden” ensures that your opponents’ weapons jam for a short time. In other words: If you want to conquer a spot and use the ability skillfully, your opponents are likely to curse loudly. At the moment, the time of jammed weapons seems to be within limits, but skills often prove to be too strong or too weak in live operation – so there will certainly be balancing adjustments. After my few rounds with her, however, I’m definitely keen on Vyse and am excited to see how she shakes up the meta.
This is what is in patch 9.04
Balancing is also a good point when it comes to patch 9.04. Before I throw all the changes in your face, however, there is one more minor change to the map pool. You can now play Split in Unranked and Quick Play queues on the console versions of Valorant.
But now it’s time to get down to business: Here are the extensive patch notes for Valorant version 9.04:
