Some time ago, Riot Games announced the Premier competitive tournament mode for the online action game Valorant. Now it’s going into open beta worldwide.
Riot Games today announced the start date for the open beta of the new competitive tournament mode called “Premier” – and the wait won’t be long. The starting signal should therefore fall this month on April 25, 2023.
With “Premier”, Riot Games then introduces a team-based competitive new system that allows you to assemble a team in Valorant and compete against other teams in a series of scheduled matches. A team consists of five to seven members; the opponent selection should put you in front of other teams with a similar level of play.
After the roster is established, a team is placed in a division where weekly matches are then played. Each week a team plays up to two matches. Premier Points are awarded for each game and are used to determine a team’s standings. Teams that win enough Premier matches will have the opportunity to compete in a play-off tournament and be crowned one of the top teams in their division.
Requirements for the beta are SMS verification enabled, achieving a leaderboard position in any act, and finding/assembling a full crew. Once lined up, the captain registers the crew and selects a zone. The zone is used to determine the game servers and game schedule for each team.
Tournament matches will then take place on the final day of the Global Open Beta, which will feature a card selection and ban system similar to pro matches. Tournament winners earn a special banner and unique title. But all participants who have played at least one game will also receive a title and a banner in the game.
Subsequently, the next phase of Premier is scheduled for July and the actual launch will be in August shortly after VCT Champions 2023.
