The unexpected often happens: The console version of the online shooter Valorant was released just in time for the weekend.
After League of Legends, Riot Games has also hit the jackpot with Valorant on the PC. It has been clear for some time that the online shooter would also be released for consoles; after a long development period, several beta test phases were recently completed – and they have apparently borne fruit.
Reason: Riot Games has released the finished version of Valorant for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in the regions of Europe, Canada, USA, Japan and Brazil today, almost out of nowhere and without prior announcement. In this respect, the development studio has now seamlessly moved from the open beta, which has been running since the end of July, directly into the full version.
On consoles, the gameplay of the PC version has been specially adapted, especially to accommodate control with a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. Accordingly, console gamers cannot compete against PC players via cross-play. However, there is shared access to the inventory and progress made across the various platforms via the Valorant game account. In the future, all balancing adjustments, new agents, maps, premium content and more will be released simultaneously on PC and console.
