The new Valorant anti-cheat system Vanguard will block legitimate applications even when Valorant is not running.
Players have expressed their concerns on the Valorant anti-cheat system on social media, which has disabled other applications on the computer. A Twitter user posted a screenshot of Vanguard preventing another application from loading on its PC, as you can see below.
I ca n’t believe the people at Riot think that “pretending to be a mean virus scanner and blocking apps randomly” is the correct answer, rather than “disabling the game until it restarts”
Just like holy shit, is this a video game or an enterprise asset control system pic.twitter.com/vaTL3VSmJg

The same thread contains information about a pop-up window that prompts the player to reconsider whether to disable Vanguard, even if doing so is the only way to revisit applications that are restricted by it.

The reasons provided in the pop-up window indicate that these are necessary precautions aimed at "maintaining the integrity of (Riot) competition in the game". It also mentions that opting out will leave your system in an untrusted state, and you will not be able to regain access to Valorant until the computer is restarted and Vanguard is re-enabled.
Riot posted an official response to this situation on Reddit, but said that the email was received to a somewhat excessive degree, mainly to quell reasonable concerns about personal safety and application blocking by asking hypothetical questions in a cute and harmless way .

The post itself states that Riot "is working hard to use Vanguard to minimize the number of software blocks."
Continue to say: "Most players will never encounter this situation." "Vanguard will always notify you when it blocks or modifies anything on the system. We believe in transparency." However, these clarifications have not eliminated people's concerns, players It lists various applications that should not be blocked by Vanguard but are blocked for some reason.
They will actually be in a position where every software on the planet must be manually verified. I think they can afford it. pic.twitter.com/WqtqLGKT8m

Although this post provides information about self-diagnostic problems caused by Vanguard activities, it also contains some strange and alternative comments about people “willing to weld computer parts in Siberia to cheat” and mentioned “No, we will not Sell your data to China. "These comments are used only to emphasize the above-mentioned point of insignificant response to legitimate public concerns, thus further eliminating the seriousness of people trying to solve their personal computer security issues.
In addition to recent concerns, Riot seems serious about maintaining a robust anti-cheat system, offering players up to $ 100,000 in bonuses for reporting vulnerabilities in Valorant ’s anti-cheat software. Most importantly, the Valorant team members remain transparent about why Vanguard still needs to run even when you are not playing the game.
