With the release of the live-action series, Fallout is threatened with a second life next year. Unfortunately, players will have to be more patient than expected.
Starfield was on everyone’s lips this year. After two decades, Bethesda finally launched its new license, which got off to a meteoric start. The landing was significantly more difficult, but the publisher promises new content and gameplay improvements next year. However, there is another project that was highly anticipated: the free update of Fallout 4. The studio’s silence did not bode well and the American company confirmed the bad news that we all expected.
No Fallout 4 on PS5 and Xbox Series in 2023
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Fallout license, Bethesda had two great projects. On the one hand, the Prime Video series, which looks more than promising given the first images and trailers revealed. Amazon has allocated the budget, but its efforts could well pay off on April 12th. We wish it at least the same success as the adaptation The Last of Us. The second has completely disappeared from the radar: the PS5 and Xbox Series version of Fallout 4. Announced with great fanfare in October 2022, the upgrade is then completely forgotten. A certain Starfield must have taken up all the resources and time during this period, but this new edition was still planned for 2023.
The use of the past tense is far from innocent, Bethesda has confirmed what we have suspected for some time. In a short tweet, the publisher announced that the long-awaited update for Fallout 4 is finally being pushed back to 2024. It is certain that it will be released close to the release of the Prime series. Video next April.
A free update
“Thank you for your patience as we work on the Fallout 4 next-gen update. We know you’re as excited as we are! But we still need some time and look forward to returning to the Commonwealth in 2024,” reads the post announcing the new news.
This free Fallout 4 update includes new graphics modes with 4K resolution and a better frame rate. Bethesda will take the opportunity to improve the award-winning game, fixing some remaining bugs but also integrating mods via Creation Club Content, recently updated for Skyrim. As a reminder, this is a collection of additional designed content ranging from items, abilities and gameplay elements designed by Bethesda or players. Content that can, however, be paid for.
