Forspoken didn’t make the impression it was hoping for, but the game tries to raise the bar. On the other hand, Luminous studio has bad news to announce. Well, but not that bad.
Forspoken has been out for a few weeks and was one of the big releases of January 2023. A big cartridge available on PC and PS5 console only, but clearly underwhelmed gamers. First, it’s the demo made available just before the full game release that has disappointed everyone. The game subsequently expressed the players’ fears, which quickly burned the game down.
Unfortunately, it is therefore a failure for The prophesied
The developers also announced sad news. Luminous Productions, it’s over.
Luminous Productions merges with Square Enix
The studio has indeed explained that Luminous Productions would close forever. The box, which has been around since 2018, was supposed to offer AAA quality, but things eventually made Square Enix put an end to that. However, not everything is black, because it is obviously not about mass layoffs, but about the merger of the teams, which will come into effect from May 1st.
You may have heard of Luminous Productions merging with Square Enix. Starting May 1st, our talented team will join Square Enix to bring innovative gaming experiences to gamers around the world.
When we founded Luminous Productions in 2018, our vision was to create AAA games by fusing technology and art to deliver entirely new gaming experiences. Getting the chance to do just that was a dream come true. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to create new entertainment and experiences as part of the amazing Square Enix family.

And Forspoken in all this?
Despite everything, the developers are still making sure of a few things, on the one hand tracking The prophesied are still relevant and the plans remain unchanged. The game will soon receive another major patch to improve its performance. The In Tanta We Trust DLC is planned for release this summer. On the other hand, this merger is a new opportunity for them to pass their talent on to other projects, and they are more motivated than ever to do so. The closure of the studio is therefore sad news, but obviously by no means a fatality for the teams. Square Enix is strengthening its own studios and will be able to further centralize its efforts for its next productions. However, it is not yet known where the Luminous teams will be transferred to.
We will continue to focus fully on Forspoken. We’re currently working on the previously announced patch to fix the game’s performance issues (we’ll update you very soon), and the In Tanta We Trust DLC is slated for release this summer. Thank you again for your patience and support!
