XDefiant caused a stir during its beta and everyone is waiting for one thing: its official release. It could arrive much sooner than previously thought.
FPS games have been a popular genre for years. Whether Call of Duty, Battlefield, DOOM, there is something for everyone and everyone has their own audience. With this popularity, competition between software is fierce and anything is good to stand out from the crowd. With this goal, a game recently decided to bring everyone together by combining the universes of 5 games into one. This is XDefiant developed by Ubisoft. In fact, it will be possible to play factions from Far Cry, The Division, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. The game is already enjoying great popularity, just since its beta, which took place from June 21st to 23rd, 2023. Many are speculating about the release date and it could be a lot closer than they thought.
A valuable document shared by Ubisoft
Ubisoft announced on February 8th: an official document The sales of the last quarter and the expectations for the next are traced . In this context, the company discusses the publications planned for these dates. Among all the games we find the long-awaited XDefiant and its Season 0. According to these official statements, we can therefore expect a release in the next two months, so before March 31, 2024. Good news, as old speculation from various tweets from the gaming team predicted a release in Summer 2023 and then September 2023. Since XDefiant’s launch didn’t happen, some wondered when it would actually happen.
The team working on XDefiant has been very transparent about the issues encountered. If the game has not been released in 2023, there are several reasons that have been shared. First, cancellations from Xbox and PlayStation were mentioned. But also synchronization problems between clients and servers. Finally, instability of the software during its development. The difficulties then seem to be numerous and it would not be surprising if the release date were postponed again. Knowing that this document merely shows a potential window, but that no precise and official announcement has yet been made.
What do we know about XDefiant’s gameplay?
XDefiant is an online FPS where two teams of six players each compete in an arena. The gameplay is similar to popular titles like Call of Duty. The software will be completely free at the time of release but will work with a seasonal system. Like many other free-to-play games, it will therefore include a Battle Pass. This will contain 90 levels. New content such as new maps and new weapons will be added every season. A rather classic service shooter operation, but one that was missing from the Ubisoft catalog.
