There appear to be some rather strange ways to inadvertently get stuck in a game of Baldur’s Gate 3’s super-hard Honor mode, with one player reporting stumbling after forgetting to pick up his hammer at the right time.
BG3’s Honor Mode has been carefully designed to offer a tougher challenge than the terrifying Tactician difficulty setting, with features like permadeath and the inability to reload previous saves adding to a truly terrifying atmosphere. That said, ending a run with a bit of memory loss may seem a bit cruel even to the most masochistic of adventurers.

However, according to one Reddit user, that’s what happens if you approach things a certain way. Towards the end of their match, a post on the BG3 subreddit detailed that the poor player went to fight Netherbrain after accepting Raphael’s trade for the Hammer of Orphek, and planned to stand On Orpheus’s side.
However, once they reach the point of no return, they realize they left the hammer in the inventory of a companion they left behind in camp.
“No one in my party has it in their inventory, and now I’m stuck in the Astral Prism, unable to leave it or free Orpheus to continue the ending,” they lamented. “I can’t reload my save. I can jump off the edge and kill my team, but that ends my run. The scene with Raphael doesn’t trigger when you “misplace” the Hammer of Orpheus, If I approach Orpheus, there is only one dialogue option: 1. (End).
They ended their harrowing account with this: “So, now all that’s left to do is pray that Larian somehow fixes this interaction…”
As it turns out, they were also the only ones to experience this, with another player replying: “This is exactly how I screwed up my honors match. I was dominating every fight and it felt like that day I finished my run in the evening, but I couldn’t escape the Astral Prism because I delivered the Hammer of Orphek to camp before heading to the Void Brain.”
Thankfully, if you’re encountering this issue while playing the game on PC, it appears that you can fix it by adding the hammer to your character’s inventory using console commands.
If this clue is anything to go by, there’s a rather long list of other points to make. If something goes wrong, your Honor Mode run can get stuck, with some players advocating for letting themselves kill the game in case the game’s limitations cause problems. , reload non-soft-locked saves.
Those more interested in learning more about fellow BG3 players than challenging themselves in Honor Mode will be happy to know that Larian is investigating some bans on Xbox that were apparently caused by recording pornographic scenes.
