Weapon tuning does not go – what happened
What is weapon tuning anyway? Weapon tuning is a new feature of Modern Warfare 2, which is intended to offer players completely new options for customizing their own rifles, pistols, etc. as they wish. Reaching the maximum level of a weapon unlocks a tuning button alongside the regular attachments.
In addition, the different values of the respective attachment can be adjusted, which enables the complete individualization of a weapon. At the moment, however, weapon tuning is missing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – and for good reason.
Incidentally, Infinity Ward presented the weapon tuning in a detailed trailer before the release. It’s best to just take a look for yourself to get a concrete picture of it:

The weapon tuning in turn led to complete crashes for many players: Anyone who screwed five tuned attachments onto a rifle was regularly thrown out of the game. Of course, this caused a lot of frustration among the affected CoD fans, which is why developer Infinity Ward quickly drew the consequences.
What is the current status? For this reason, the weapon tuning of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was deactivated without further ado. If you’re wondering why you can’t currently use the Gunsmith, you know why. Unfortunately, there is no information as to when the feature will be activated again. Infinity Ward merely announced that they would investigate the problem further.

How can I still use my loadout? If you’ve already let off steam a bit with weapon tuning, you don’t have to despair. You can easily reset your fine tuning by removing all attachments from your chosen weapon – and then screwing them back on. You should be able to use your preferred loadout again, but of course you have to do without your fine adjustments.
