Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15th. The Japanese spin-off is set to be the most technically advanced game in the series to date and will set new standards. At gamescom, developer Ubisoft showed us what the new version of the Anvil Engine, on which the game is based, can do. Thanks to dynamic weather changes, the world of AC Shadows is extremely atmospheric. Gusts of wind blow realistically through the canopy of the trees, snow and dust are stirred up, raindrops are carried away by the wind. The change of seasons shown not only looks damn cool, but is also supposed to change the gameplay: in winter, enemy guards prefer to warm themselves by a cozy campfire instead of vigilantly making their rounds. Ponds in which we can dive to hide in the summer are frozen over in the winter. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also supposed to offer more environmental destruction than its predecessors. Shinobi Naoe cuts grass and bamboo with her blades, while Samurai Yasuke tears down entire market stalls and sliding doors in battle.
